St. Louis Public Schools parts ways with superintendent Millicent Borishade

ST. LOUIS – After eight months serving as the Saint Louis Schools Superintendent, Dr. Millicent Borishade has been removed from the position, according to teachers union American Federation of Teachers.

Borishade was named interim superintendent in July 2024 following Dr. Keisha Scarlett being placed on a paid temporary leave of absence—who was officially fired by the school board in September 2024.

In late August, nearly 2,000 members of the AFT union signed and delivered a no-confidence petition against Borishade after her proposal to close more than half of the district’s schools, and members citing the superintendent has allegedly left educators out of decision making.
