Nussdorfer Award nominees sought
DENNISON − Applications are available for the Lucille Nussdorfer Award. Individuals can nominate an outstanding woman who has made a significant, lasting impact through volunteerism in Tuscarawas County. The award committee, made up of local leaders from several area businesses, will narrow down the applications and vote for five finalists. The finalists will attend the Oct. 15 awards banquet, where the winner will be announced at the end.

Learn about brain and body health
DOVER − The Alzheimer’s Association will host an educational program from 10 to 11 a.m. Aug. 5 at Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital, 659 Boulevard St., to explore the latest research on how lifestyle choices may contribute to maintaining brain and body health as we age. Attendees will learn how diet and nutrition, exercise, cognitive activity, and social engagement can play a role in healthy aging. Church yardsale to benefit missions
DOVER − Dover First Christian Church, 3029 N. Wooster Ave., will hold a mission fundraising yardsale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 8 and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 9. All sales are by donation.
Make alumni banquet reservations

Miss Clayland competition applications
UHRICHSVILLE − Applications are due Sept. 2 for the Miss Clayland Scholarship Competition to be held Sept. 20, at Claymont High School, 4205 Indian Hill Rd. SE. Contestants will compete in five phases of competition; private interview, evening wear, on-stage question, talent and fitness. Scholarships totaling more than $4,000 will be awarded, and the winner will have the opportunity to compete at Miss Ohio in June 2026. Contestants must be 18 to 28 years old.
Miss Ohio 2025 Olivia Fosson will perform during the Sept. 20 competition. Fosson was Miss Clayland 2025 and will compete for the title of Miss America in early September.

Operation Christmas Child dinner set
WALNUT CREEK − The 11th annual Ohio East Operation Christmas Child dinner will be at noon and 6 p.m. Aug. 23 at Carlisle Inn. Book sales planned
The Friends of the Library of the Tuscarawas County Public Library System will host community book sales at the Strasburg Branch from 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 7, 1 to 5 p.m. Aug. 8, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 9, and at the main library from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 15, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 16.
