Third relative of transgender dad shooter dies nine days after rampage at Rhode Island hockey game

A third relative of transgender mass shooter Robert Dorgan has died nine days after the deranged dad shot up a Rhode Island high school hockey game, officials announced.

Gerald Dorgan, 75, the shooter’s ex-father-in-law, had been in critical condition since the Feb. 16 shooting that also claimed the lives of his daughter, Rhonda Dorgan, and grandson, Aidan Dorgan. His death was announced Wednesday.

“We are heartbroken to learn that another life has been lost as a result of last Monday’s senseless shooting at Lynch Arena,” Pawtucket Mayor Donald R. Grebien said in a statement.

Robert Dorgan, 56, deliberately targeted his family when he started shooting in the stands at the high school hockey game.

“Our thoughts and prayers remain with the victim’s family, friends, and all those impacted by this tragic act of violence.”

His ex-wife’s mother, Gerald Dogan’s wife Linda, and family friend Thomas Geruso were also left fighting for their lives.

Robert Dorgan had the same surname as his former in-law because his ex-wife was also a cousin.

The shooter recently underwent gender reassignment, and his trans identity and unhinged personality were a source of multiple family court battles leading up to the shooting.

Rhonda Dorgan — who is also Robert Dorgan’s cousin — claimed that her father Gerald Dorgan ordered him to leave the house after he underwent surgery in 2020, according to a police report.
