Mississippi dad, daughter fatally shot while trying to buy PS5 during Facebook Marketplace meetup

A Mississippi dad and daughter were gunned down during a Facebook Marketplace meetup for a PlayStation 5 — and their devastated family fears they were ambushed.
Electricians Victor Gonzales, 42, and his 19-year-old daughter, Serenity, were fatally shot in their work van off a rural road Sunday in Panola County — just two days after they were last seen at a job, according to WREG.
Investigators told a family member that tire tracks found at the scene could indicate they were trying to flee.

“They were working on that day, and they were going to eat, and after that they were going to pick up a PS5 from Facebook Marketplace,” Victor’s son and Serenity’s younger brother, Jessie Waterman, 15, told WREG.
Jessie said he didn’t know whom Victor and Serenity were planning to meet during the deal, but feared “something must’ve happened with [the] transaction,” WATN reported.
He described his sister as a “really fun person.”
Jessie was left with more questions than answers after his family’s work vehicle was found muddied off a rural road in Sardis — a town 50 miles south of Memphis.
“Normally they don’t have mud and stuff like that on the van, and on the sides and it looks like they were trying to flee from the scene,” he said.
The bodies of Gonzales and Serenity were found after cops responded to a one-car wreck, according to WJTV.

Panola County Sheriff Shane Phelps refused to comment on a possible robbery or ambush — but Jessie claimed Victor and Serenity didn’t have any enemies.
He refused to comment on a theory that the duo were trying to flee someone.
The investigation is ongoing.
