Boyfriend roasted for fridge packed with protein — but he insists he’s only an ‘average-built nerd’

The internet has beef with a Long Island man over the contents of his fridge.

A Reddit user posted five photos of his refrigerator in the r/FridgeDetective subreddit page — and it’s quickly become one of the subreddit’s most viral posts of all time.

“My girlfriend always tells me I never have anything to eat when she comes over my house,” he wrote alongside the images.

In the freezer alone, he has 40+ lbs of assorted ground meat, 35+ lbs of ribeye, 14 lbs of American wagyu ribeye, 15 lbs of New Zealand lamb shoulder chops, and a bunch of portioned seafood. r/itscuccimane

He shared that in the freezer, he has 40+ lbs of assorted ground meat, 35+ lbs of ribeye, 14 lbs of American wagyu ribeye, 15 lbs of New Zealand lamb shoulder chops, and a bunch of portioned seafood.

He didn’t write out the contents of his fridge, but visible items include carbonated water, blue cheese dressing, protein shakes, premade cocktails, Greek yogurt, crab meat, bottles of nondairy creamer, multiple cheeses, various condiments, a drawer full of carrots, a drawer full of zucchini, and a collection jams.

It’s now the second-most visited post in the subreddit’s history with 11,000 comments and 29,000 upvotes at the time of reporting.

Many people in the comments looked at the photos and decided that the poster’s girlfriend was right.

“I think she means food that doesn’t require preparation my brother,” one person noted.

“I would like to introduce you to something many a woman in my life has been a fan of: Carbohydrates,” another wrote, and someone quipped in response, “There’s yeast in the door, maybe he expects her to bake bread when she wants it?”

“She means snacks my guy. We need to GRAZE,” a female commenter quipped.

“Maybe your girlfriend values her colon a little more than you value yours?” another stated, noting a lack of fiber in the fridge.

Many people called his collection “wasteful” and “wild,” accusing him of hoarding.

“It’s okay to save some food for the other customers at the store btw. You don’t have to take the whole shelf of everything,” someone joked.

The original poster, u/itscuccimane, anonymously told Today.com that he was shocked by the response and it has “exhausted” him.

“What’s ironic is that people see the protein shakes and the treasure trove of steaks and assume I’m some ‘gym bro’ living on carnivore vibes, when in reality, I’m an average-built nerd working in tech,” he told the outlet.

He shared that his diet consists of a bagel from Bagel Boss on Long Island, pizza, sushi and other non-keto foods — and that the only reason he has so many shakes is they were “heavily discounted.”

The user said he’s received some “really alarming” messages from people on Reddit calling him a “spoiled” and “arrogant” “a–hole.” Some allegedly told him to “die of colon cancer” and that his girlfriend isn’t being “taken care of.”

Many people pointed out the excessive amount of jams and protein shakes he had in his fridge. r/itscuccimane

“When you look at a photo with zero context, it’s like reading one sentence from the middle of a book and claiming you know how the story ends,” he said, adding that “our lens for understanding each other has never been more narrow.”

“A snapshot of a fridge isn’t a medical chart or a personality profile — it’s just a single moment in time.”
