Charlie Kirk shooting live updates: Conservative activist shot at Utah Valley University event, school says
Charlie Kirk, a popular conservative commentator, was shot while speaking to a large crowd at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, on Wednesday, a spokesperson for the university confirmed.
Kirk was speaking at a planned open-air rally at the school when a single shot rang out near the food court. Kirk was struck, but his condition is unknown. A suspect is in custody and the campus has been closed for the rest of the day, a university spokesman told Yahoo in an email.
Kirk is a prominent conservative activist and ally of President Trump. He cofounded Turning Point USA, an organization that advocates for conservative politics on high school and university campuses.
“We must all pray for Charlie Kirk, who has been shot,” Trump posted to Truth Social. “A great guy from top to bottom. GOD BLESS HIM!”
FBI Director Kash Patel wrote in a post on X that the bureau was “closely monitoring” the situation.
