Evacuation warning for Palisades and Eaton Fire areas ahead of winter storm

Los Angeles officials issued evacuation warnings to those living in the Palisades and Eaton Fire burn scar areas ahead of the upcoming winter storm expected to bring heavy rainfall.

A bulletin from the Los Angeles Fire Department on Saturday was sent out that warned of the extreme danger from possible debris flow and mudslides for those who live in several areas that were affected by the recent devastating wildfires in Los Angeles.

The intense wildfires burn through vegetation and layers of soil allowing for dangerous mudflows.

“Gather loved ones, pets and supplies. Those who need more time evacuating should consider leaving now. More at ALERTLA.ORG,” the warning read. 

It added, “Potential threat to life and/or property. Those who require additional time to evacuate, and those with pets and livestock should leave now.”

The evacuation warning takes effect at 9 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 15 and runs through 9 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, KTLA reported.

An interactive county wide map lists the evacuation locations along with preparedness resources where you can check if your area is one that is affected.

  • Palisades Fire burn scar zones: LFD-1081, 1083, 1085, 1087, 1089, 1091, 1092, 1093, 1095, 1096, 1097 and 0891
  • Hurst Fire burn scar zone: LFD-0001-B
  • Sunset Fire burn scar zone: LFD-0835
  • Eaton Fire burn scar zones: SMD-E016, E019, 013, E015, E005, 002, 010, E007, E001, E014, E004, 006, 012, 011, E003, E008, and E009

As part of being prepared for the extreme storm expected to hit LA, the LAFD said it provides free ready-to-fill sandbags at ALL Neighborhood Fire Stations. To find one near you, check out this map.

Officials encourage residents to gather essential items, review evacuation plans, and stay alert for updates as the storm progresses.

The warning comes as forecasters predict the storm hitting Southern California Sunday and into the early part of next week will bring several inches of rain and high winds.
