Kaukauna Police make changes after cat incident, apologize to owners & community

KAUKAUNA, Wis. (WFRV) – Following a cat incident, the Kaukauna Police Department released information on its new guidelines regarding animals.

According to the Kaukauna Police Department, it has made changes to its guidelines on how they handle animals at large. This comes after a cat incident on October 26.

The department extended an apology to the cat’s owners as well as the Kaukauna community. The department said the incident could have been handled ‘much better’.

Moving forward, all domesticated animals that the department takes custody of will be sent to the Fox Valley Humane Society. It was mentioned that these guidelines take effect immediately.

The officer involved in the cat incident received corrective action, the department said. This was after an internal investigation.

The department ended the release by thanking the cat’s owners for their understanding and are glad the cat made it home safe.
