Gov. Newsom torched for leaving out ‘Christmas’ from tree lighting post

Bah humbug!

Governor Gavin Newsom is hearing it from the internet — this time for failing to mention the word “Christmas” in his tweet showcasing the California State Capitol Tree Lighting Ceremony.

“Happy Holidays, California!… Wishing all Californians a bright and cheerful holiday season,” Newsom said in a post on X sent Wednesday. The tweet also included a video clip from the 94th annual gathering to help to kick off Christmas celebrations.

Newsom and his wife, First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom, hosted the Christmas tree lighting event.

The event featured a set of 5-year-old twins from Altadena who had the honor of lighting the tree.

While Newsom can be heard wishing the crowd a “Merry Christmas” in the video he shared to X, commenters were quick to voice their displeasure with the fact he never actually wrote it out in the text of his tweet.

“I don’t trust anyone who says ‘Happy Holiday’s’,” one user replied. “It’s Christmas, you filthy animal!” another exclaimed.

One person on X shared a photoshopped image of Newsom and Nancy Pelosi standing in front of a burning Los Angeles with the words “Happy Holidays” across the top.

Last week Newsom was on stage at the New York Times Dealbook Summit when his ‘testicle-crushing’ sitting pose made the internet go nuts.
