Will There Be A Tell Me Lies Season 4 On Hulu? Creator Meaghan Oppenheimer Weighs In
Unfortunately, the Season 3 finale of Tell Me Lies will also serve as the series finale. Before Tell Me Lies Season 3, Episode 8 hit Hulu on Tuesday, February 17, Oppenheimer officially announced on social media that there would be no Tell Me Lies Season 4.
“After three amazing seasons of Tell Me Lies, tonight’s episode will be the series finale. This was always the ending my writing team and I had in mind, and we are insanely proud of it,” Oppenheimer wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of the cast.
“Your incredible response to this season inspired us to explore whether there was another organic way to continue the story, but ultimately we felt it had reached its natural conclusion,” the showrunner continued. “My main goal has always been to protect the quality of the show and give you the best experience I can give you. And so, while it is bittersweet to leave something that has been such a happy experience, I am very grateful that we are able to tell a complete story with an intentional ending – a privilege very few shows get. Thank you for loving our show. We are excited to bring you more stories in the near future.”

During Decider’s Season 3 finale interview with Oppenheimer, the creator expanded on her decision to end the show now and admitted that she and writers considering continuing the story, but ultimately felt it was the wrong move.
“The audience reaction has been so incredible that there were definitely conversations about if there was another way to organically continue the story. But we kept coming back to the same thing — that anything we do after this will begin to either feel repetitive or like a different show, because it was always that framing device of the wedding. And after the wedding, the characters don’t live in the same city. Why would these people ever interact again?” Oppeheimer explained.
“And we also can’t go back to college, because Lucy’s not there. And it’s anticlimactic, because we know where they end up after the wedding. So we had a lot of conversations,” she continued. “Ultimately, for me, it was really important to to go out on a high note. I respect the fans so much that the worst thing I could have done was give them a fourth season that didn’t feel as good, or felt redundant, or felt like we’d overstayed are welcome, because I see that happen with a lot of shows.”
Will There Be A Tell Me Lies Movie, Reboot, Or Spinoff Series? “Never Say Never!”
Based on the incredible success of the series, however, Oppenheimer said she’d definitely be open to revisiting the world in some capacity down the line.
“In terms of reboots or spin-offs, yeah, of course. The door is definitely open for all of that,” Oppenheimer told Decider. “I think that this world of toxic relationships, there are so many different manifestations of that, especially in this age group. I think it’s such a timeless topic with a million different versions of stories that you could tell. Or maybe years from now a much older adult spin-off if there’s room. Never say never about any of it. But I think now I’m really excited to tell new stories.”
