The week in whoppers: Stephen King rewrites Trump’s life, Gov. Newsom keeps it real and more

Diary of disturbing disinformation and dangerous delusions

This assertion:

“Trump: Has never had a child . . . . Has no life experience.” — author Stephen King, Sunday

We say: Of all the things to say about Donald Trump, lacking “life experience” is probably the weirdest.

He’s been in the public eye for 50 years, running a global real-estate company and a hit TV show . . . not to mention being president.

His kids are five of the most famous children in America. Alternative universes are great, Stevie, but save them for your next book.

This pander:

“I’m like you. I’m not better than you. I’m a 960 SAT guy. . . . I cannot read a speech.” — California Gov. Gavin Newsom, Sunday

We say: Bragging about mediocre test scores and being unable to read is a heckuva way to appear relatable in front of a largely African-American group in Atlanta, gov.

OK, you’re a real man of the people — but why do you save all your condescending stories about shooting hoops, watching TV and eating Wonder Bread for black audiences?

This description:

“From the video I saw it looked like kids at a snowball fight.” — Mayor Zohran Mamdani, Tuesday

We say: The “kids” who pelted NYPD officers with icy “snowballs,” causing facial lacerations, allegedly included grown men like 27-year-old Gusmane Coulibaly, who was arrested this month for attempted robbery.

Why did Mamdani reflexively support a mob that clearly swarmed cops trying to calm down an unruly scene?

Seems this mayor will never give his own NYPD the benefit of the doubt.

This factoid:

“There are many more Christians in Qatar than there are in Israel.” — Podcaster Tucker Carlson, Friday

We say: In his argument with Amb. Mike Huckabee about the alleged mistreatment of Christians in Israel, Tucker Carlson forgot to note that Qatar has zero Christian citizens.

Almost all of the 400,000 Christians there are foreign workers with no civil rights who live as virtual slaves. Israel’s 184,000 Christians are full citizens.
